Have you ever been evaluating a purchase in a department store, and decided to buy the item because a salesperson gave you a final nudge? Have you noticed that at McDonalds they like to ask, “You want fries with that?” Or, “Do you want to ‘super-size’ for only 30 cents more?” Sometimes humans need to be shown the path to take, and given a shove in the right direction.
In marketing, the final method by which the customer can proceed to buy the product (or inquire further), is called the Call to Action (CTA). You must end your profile with a Call to Action. Nudge her at the end. Get her to send you an email. Don’t say “Hey what do you have to lose?” Or, “So that’s me. What do you think?” These endings are weak. Rather, hint at the notion that she would be foolish to let this opportunity slip by – one of the oldest marketing tricks in the world. Try something like this:
And if you’ve read this far, then you must be cool. It would be a shame to lose you now.”
